Out of sight of our civilisation rages a war between factions. Hidden among us for countless years, each faction is fighting to win the ability to decide our own fate. Surpassing our technology long ago, and witnessing the destructive power and collateral damage of modern warfare, they bound themselves by protocol and now vie for control of us in secret, until the day that a victor is decided and their truce is ended.
Only then will the victor determine how our own future will play out: Protectorate, or exterminator?
Key to the imminent final battle is one of our own – an unsuspecting young woman dragged into their secret war through chance and circumstance, becoming a target for both sides. The only person who holds the key to which faction will ultimately win, which will then determine whether we join their kind or are supplanted by them to make way for their superior abilities to finally reach their full potential.
Powerless and uncertain who to trust, she must fight for her own – and her entire civilisation’s – fate in a secret pocket of her own world that she never knew existed, which she doesn’t understand, and in which only her captors can guide her.
